Coursepacks or Other Material for Resale |
 |
A coursepack is a collection of readings that can be sourced from books, journals, periodicals and instructor authored material. Coursepacks can be purchased by students from individual departments (directly or through fees) or from the Bookstore. In the case of the latter, Bookstore staff obtain copyright permissions, assemble, print, package and stock the coursepacks for sale alongside the texts for your course. Click here for more information on MacEwan Coursepacks at the Bookstore.
Permissions can be obtained from copyright owners directly, however, the college has a licensing agreement with Access Copyright (formerly known as CanCopy), a non-profit organization that represents authors and publishers. In return for the payment of a per-page royalty (currently $0.10 per page), MacEwan staff and faculty have advance permission to copy material within the limits outlined below. The agreement also covers reprints of out-of-print books. The agreement covers print format only.
To convert print coursepacks to digital format (CD or online Blackboard courses) you must request separate written permission from the copyright owner. However, you can use an existing coursepack in its print version to supplement an online course.
Please Note:
The college agreement with Access Copyright requires that a log be kept and royalties paid for any copies being made for resale. Please fill out the Reporting Log and send to Print Services (City Centre 6-021). In the case of MacEwan Coursepacks, the Bookstore will take care of the log and pay the royalties.
